Dialogue and Higher Education—Jan. 7, 2010

We at the Public Conversations Project are excited about a new connection with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU). The AASCU is the leadership association of 430 American public colleges and universities. It promotes and supports institutions of public higher education by advocating for them and their students, offering program support for advancing academic quality and inclusion, and creating development opportunities for institutional leadership.

In partnership with The New York Times, AASCU developed The American Democracy Project (ADP)—"a multi-campus initiative focusing on the role of higher education in preparing the next generation of graduates to be informed, engaged citizens for our democracy."  We look forward to supporting AASCU and ADP’s aim to produce graduates who are active, involved citizens.

This is really exciting! I have used the Public Conversations Project's tools to facilitate many dialogues on college campus, bringing together Jewish students to talk across political differences about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
