Why is the Public Conversations Project Blogging?

Recently the Public Conversations Project launched a new Web site. This is just the first step for us as we improve and expand the way we communicate and interact online. In recent years, online communication has become a conversation, a word that is part of our name.

The Public Conversations Project aims to encourage and participate in effective communication. We are naturally positioned to be a valuable participant in conversations that matter in the areas of politics, religion, higher education, health care, international development and more. As we enter this space, we hope to reach new people through new media, but we also expect our conversations partners (that's you!) to shape and guide our message.

Please join us as we explore this new branch of communication and conversation. Thus, the Public Conversations Project is excited to introduce our new blog—Words that Matter. As a new feature of our online presence, the blog will be a hub of information and interaction that includes not only our specific work, but also brings together multiple voices speaking about the issues that matter most to us.

We hope you will visit us frequently as we take on this new challenge of creating a hub for conversation and interaction around issues of dialogue and conflict resolution. Add your voice—join us in the conversation!

"Pro-conversation!" I like

"Pro-conversation!" I like it, Rick! I, too, am paying more attention to the way people say things, not just what they say. Even if I disagree with the positions of elected officials (or candidates), I listen to them much more carefully if they are truly inviting (or willing to engage in) conversation, and respectful exploration of complex and multiple perspectives.

Connections

Thanks for the opportunity to make the 'connections' that find themselves after personal sharing of experiences. I've only done it privately, until now, but when asked what my position is on various subjects, I answer, "I'm pro-conversation." Talking is doing when it builds new possibilities. I am increasingly convinced that the exercise of respectful conversation is the 'action' that is needed. I appreciate your continuing singular focus on this important work. Rick.

Mucho mazel!

Congratulations, dear PCP friends, on launching your blog! I'm looking forward to reading your words of wisdom here. Warm regards from Deborah
